Behind every headline is a human life.

This story brings to light a buried truth, one that was never supposed to be told.

The Banker’s Daughter is a limited series based on the extraordinary true story of eight-year-old Gaylie’s 24-day kidnapping in Acapulco, Mexico, and her father Pete’s unheard-of rise as an independent “banker” in the 1960s and ’70s numbers racket — a Black man operating with the rare blessing and approval of powerful figures in the Italian Mafia, including his close friend Paul Vario (portrayed by Danny Aiello in Goodfellas). But this isn’t just a story about crime or survival. Created by the woman who lived it, this project is her purpose — a raw, unfiltered exploration of generational trauma, racial identity, and the price of silence that shaped a family and echoes through time.
